Cactus - Day 4 - Inktober 2026
For Inktober 2026, Day 4, the prompt is “Cactus.”
There’s something about the traditional scarecrow that has always seemed a little questionable to me.
You put a stuffed person in a field and expect the birds to be scared away. But how long is that really going to work? Eventually, the birds figure out that the “person” standing in the field isn't moving and isn’t scary at all.
And then they come back.
So perhaps farmers need a different approach.
Instead of simply scaring the birds, maybe you need to send the flock a stronger message:
Stay away. Don’t mess with my crops.
This cartoon is my Day 4 entry for Inktober 2026, based on the prompt “Cactus.”
Apparently, this farmer has found a more permanent solution to his bird problem.
Looks like the new scarecrow is working.
