miniature - day 3 - inktober 2026

For Inktober 2026, Day 3, the prompt is “Miniature.”

I decided to take the prompt literally: what if the only way housing could be considered affordable was if the house itself was miniature?

The idea behind the cartoon is pretty simple. Housing is freaking expensive. This isn't meant to assign blame or take a political side. It's simply a reflection of the reality that buying a home has become a major financial challenge for many people.

And it raises an uncomfortable question:

How will the next generation afford to live in a house?

The miniature house between the fingers is the joke but there's a serious observation underneath it. If a normal-sized house is increasingly out of reach, perhaps the only truly “affordable” version is one small enough to hold in your hand.

For this cartoon, I also continued experimenting with my new visual style: black, white and gray with one muted accent color. I used a muted rust red on the tiny roof to draw attention directly to the miniature house which is the visual punchline.
