Not the Reception She Was Expecting

Inktober 2026 — Day 18: Flightless | Day 19: Confused

What happens when two groups with seemingly opposite values find themselves on the same side?

This cartoon explores the baffling, unofficial alliance between radical Islamists and some liberal women in the West. One side promotes religious fundamentalism and strict social control; the other often champions individual freedom, gender equality, and personal autonomy.

On the surface, the contradiction is hard to miss. What happens when the values you defend collide with those of the people you support?

Susan is about to discover that the welcome she expected isn't quite what she imagined.

Not the reception she was expecting.

Inktober Day 31: Flex

Inktober, Inktober 2026, Editorial Cartoon, Social Commentary, Workplace

For Inktober Day 31, the prompt was Flex. Instead of drawing bulging muscles, I took a different approach: meet Tom, who proudly works at 2:47 a.m. and wears his exhaustion like a badge of honour. He's flexing his overwork, but burnout is waiting around the corner. The final cartoon of Inktober 2026 comes with a lesson for all of us: sometimes the thing we're most proud of is the very thing that's costing us the most.

Cookie Monster has an empty cookie jar, but the world is overflowing with chaos. From war and economic turmoil to environmental disasters, maybe C really does stand for Crazy. Inktober Day 30: a little Cookie Monster humour for a world that seems to have lost the plot.

Inktober Days 27 & 28: Dumb and Trophy

For Inktober prompts 27 (Dumb) and 28 (Trophy), I poke fun at a culture where showing up on time earns a trophy. When basic expectations become extraordinary achievements, it's fair to ask whether we've lowered the bar too far.
