The Poor Ogre Is Just Hungry

For Inktober 2026, Day 6, the prompt is “Ogre.”

I didn't want to draw the stereotypical angry ogre.

Maybe the poor guy is just misunderstood.

Turns out he's not angry. He's just hungry and his blood sugar is low. Put a muffin in front of him and suddenly that terrifying ogre doesn't seem quite so terrifying.

I'm also experimenting with a new approach to color in my cartoons: one small accent color to draw attention to the key theme or focal point. For this cartoon, I used a muted rust red on the Smarties in the muffin.

A little color. A little sugar. A much happier ogre.
